What is a soundbar speaker
Soundbar speaker is a type of speaker that comes from a wider project audio enclosure. Its height is much higher, partly for acoustic reasons, and partly because it can be installed above or below a display device, for example, above a computer monitor or below a home theater or TV screen. In a bar speaker, multiple speakers are placed in a single cabinet, which helps produce surround sound and/or stereo sound. A separate subwoofer is usually included in a bar speaker or can be used to supplement a bar speaker.
History of Bar Speakers
In the early passive version, only the left, middle and right speakers were integrated into a chassis, sometimes referred to as "LCR strip speakers".
Altec Lansing introduced a multi-channel strip speaker in 1998, which is called Digital Cinema Voice or ADA106. It is an active speaker system that provides stereo, Dolby Pro Logic and AC3 surround sound through a bar speaker and a separate subwoofer. The bar speaker is equipped with four 3 "full frequency drivers and two 1" tweeters, while the subwoofer is equipped with an 8 "dual voice coil driver. It uses Altec Lansing's side trigger technology and algorithm to provide surround sound from the side, back and front. This configuration eliminates the wiring of individual speakers and the space they need.
Advantages and disadvantages of bar speakers
The bar speaker is relatively small, can be easily placed under the monitor, is easy to set up, and is usually cheaper than other stereo systems. However, because of their small size and lack of flexible positioning methods, bar speakers cannot be filled with sound like stereo systems with separate speakers.
Soundbar Hybrid
In order to take advantage of the advantages of bar speakers and stereo setting systems, some manufacturers have produced a mixture of bar speakers, in which the bar speakers represent left, middle and right speakers and (wireless) subwoofers as well as left and right rear speakers. Sometimes, the producer will use the left, middle and right speakers as well as the detachable and rechargeable bar type speakers of the left and right rear speakers.
Usage of bar speaker
The main design purpose of the bar speaker is to produce a strong sound with good bass response. As the world turns to flat screen displays, the use of Soundbar has grown steadily. The earlier TV sets and display devices were mainly based on CRT; As a result, the box is larger for greater speaker response. However, when using a flat screen TV, the depth of the screen will decrease by xxx, leaving little room for speakers. As a result, the built-in speakers lack bass response. Bar speakers help bridge this gap.
